"Seeing Becky Bloomwood come to life in a movie was something I dreamed about ever since I wrote the first book and it was optioned. The movie was incredibly exciting - it was reset in the States, it had exactly the right tone to it and it had the spirit of the books, recognisable moments and scenes and characters and everything that readers love and that I love. Isla Fischer was just fantastic, she’s such a funny actress and I was absolutely thrilled when I heard she would be playing Becky. I could immediately see it, I could just visualise her being Becky! The director was PJ Hogan, who made My Best Friend’s Wedding, which is one of my all time favourite films, and also has quite a flawed heroine who you love in spite of all the mistakes she makes!"
